The demolition of Ocean Towers, SPI is going forward. There is much groundwork and paperwork to be accomplished before the final implosion. Here is an update from the demolition company on their progress and schedule.

Salvage of equipment and materials from the towers was compleded by Rovan. The complete interior of the structure has been stripped out. The company is currently working on removing the exterior curtain wall and insulating foam on the inside of the EFIS system has been removed. Drilling for blasting is nearly complete with a few holes to be added after the pre-blasting.

The next steps are to installation cables and ready them for pre-tensioning. A convention pre-demolition of the eastern end of the parking garage will be complete by Saturday.

Soon, the At-Source Protection will be added. This includes chain link fence and geotextile fabric that will be used to wrap columns and walls to be blasted to prevent fly of debris during the final implosing.

Other steps include approval for a dune permit for the demolition company, and projections from Seismic Survey Company for likely vibration caused by the tower and its likely levels at various locations surrounding the site. Their report will be shared with owners in The Shores at a meeting.
